I’m convinced that when most people choose a framework, it's often because others are doing it.
... not because they understand its principles and have a good (contextualized) reasoning that the framework will help them achieve certain desired outcomes.
Frameworks are means to an end.
❌ To master a framework is never the goal.
❌ Using a framework, because others do it too, should not be an ambition
✅ We need to assess where we are (our context), define the outcomes we want to achieve, and then select/tweak/cherry-pick/create the framework we think will help.
I once heard from a Product leader: “We want to start doing OKRs”
I asked: “Cool, why is that?”
He answered confidently: “Well, most tech companies are using it so we should probably do it too...”
Product is a beautifully unique craft. There are no one-size-fits-all approaches to fixing our problems.
What works for Team A may not work for Team B
What helped company A may harm company B
👉 Be critical. Read. Search for different views. Understand the principles. Understand why it worked for others. Discuss. Contextualize what you’ve learned. Try. Sense. And adapt.
